Sharks Send Cowboys Back To Townsville 26-18

The Cowboys took a long trip from Townsville down to Sydney to take on the Sharks at Allianz Stadium on Friday night. Unfortunately, things didn’t get off to a good start for the away side. In the 14 minute, Reuben Cotter tackled Braydon Trindall without the ball and the referee, Ashley Klein, awarded a penalty try.

Just two minutes later, the Sharks struck again. This time, Nicho Hynes chipped the ball into the air, and  Ronaldo Mulitalo managed to swat the ball back before eventually Cameron McInnes crossed the line. The Sharks kept the momentum rolling and scored another two tries before half-time.

The Cowboys came out like a team that was on the brink of being booted from the finals. Valentine Holmes was a one-man wrecking ball who managed to score two tries. However, Scott Drinkwater kicked the ball out on the full in the 66th minute, and Sharks slotted the penalty to put the game out of reach. Ultimately, Cronulla won 28-18 and progressed to the Preliminary Final.

Roosters Outgun Sea Eagles 40-16

The Sea Eagles were coming off a fantastic comeback win against the Bulldogs. Manly were trailing the entire game before a try from Tolutau Koula in the 71st minute, and a conversion from Reuben Garrick surged the Sea Eagles into the lead.

The Roosters, on the other hand, were absolutely destroyed by the Panthers in the first half and looked helpless before mounting an unsuccessful comeback in the second half, which was hampered by a controversial forward pass call by the ref.

The Roosters looked like a different team when they came out against Manly. Victor Radley and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves added some serious muscle to the Roosters’ forward pack, and in the 12th minute, Radley crashed over the line after sprinting through a wide-open gap.

Before the Sea Eagles got on the scoreboard, the Roosters had scored four tries, including a lovely backline play that saw Luke Keary find James Tedesco, who inserted himself into the line, drew defenders, passed it to Daniel Tupou, who gave it back to Tedesco who scored. The game was over after the 56th minute after Tupou scored and Tedesco got a double. With that win, the Roosters will fly down to Melbourne to take on the Storm.
