Parramatta Eels vs St George Illawarra Dragons Preview & Prediction
The Eels will be looking to stay in top eight contention when they play host to the struggling Dragons on Sunday at CommBank Stadium.
After reaching the Grand Final last season, the Eels were dealt a tough draw to start this year and although they made up for a slow start in the middle of the season, they’ve hit another roadblock in recent times.
Three defeats from their last four games have seen Parramatta drop to 11th spot on the ladder – one of seven teams currently on 26 or 24 points.
Suffice to say every game counts from here on in and with tough fixtures against the Panthers, Broncos and Roosters on the horizon, the Eels can’t afford to slip up here.
Meanwhile, the Dragons really don’t have much to play for as it would take a miracle late run from the Tigers to see them avoid the wooden spoon.
St George Illawarra have endured another terrible season and their form on the road is atrocious, with the club losing all nine away outings.
Tough to see the Dragons doing any damage here, especially with Dylan Brown returning for the Eels to partner Mitch Moses in the halves.
VERDICT
The Eels need to lift here, but I’m confident they will – the Dragons aren’t a threat and have been awful in losing all nine of their road outings this season.
Parramatta beat the Dragons 48-14 at CommBank last season and have won six of their last seven at the venue – they should be set for a comfortable victory on Sunday afternoon (Best Eels 13+ margin odds $1.62 with bet365.)
