Australia continue their World Cup title defence when they come up against Italy in the last of their Group B games on Saturday night.

To nobody’s surprise, the Kangaroos have cruised into the quarter-finals with a 126-8 points differential across their opening two wins over Fiji and Scotland.

Josh Addo-Carr has been running riot to lead the try scoring charts, crossing four times in the 84-0 demolition of Scotland last weekend.

Campbell Graham also crossed for a hat-trick and Jack Wighton grabbed a brace. Nathan Cleary has been on fire and putting the pressure on Daly Cherry-Evans to hold onto the No. 7 jersey heading into the knockout phase.

Meanwhile, Italy’s World Cup is over unless Scotland can somehow put a massive score on Fiji, which obviously is highly unlikely.

Italy scored a solid 28-4 victory over Scotland in their tournament opener, but their quarter-final hopes were dashed in a crushing 60-4 loss to the Fijians last weekend.

VERDICT:

Again, not much to say in these group games. Australia wins this at a canter and the question once again is by how much?

We can expect Mal Meninga to rotate his team again, but really any version of this Kangaroos outfit should be covering a -72.5 line (Best Australia -72.5 line odds $1.90 with Ladbrokes.)
