The Kiwis famously beat Australia in the 2008 World Cup final and the two powerhouse nations are on a collision course for the semi-finals in England 12 years later.

Both teams should have no trouble navigating their respective groups and making the final four, with New Zealand warming up for this game with a thumping 74-0 triumph over Leeds last week.

Michael Maguire has assembled one of New Zealand’s strongest ever squads, especially in the spine, with Joey Manu set to line up at fullback, Dylan Brown and Jahrome Hughes to combine in the halves and Brandon Smith to play at hooker.

Throw in some huge forwards in Joseph Tapine, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Jesse Bromwich and James Fisher-Harris, and New Zealand have a team capable of blowing any nation off the park.
