Gold Coast Titans vs South Sydney Rabbitohs Preview & Prediction
The Rabbitohs will be aiming to continue their recent dominance over the Titans when the two teams clash at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday.
South Sydney have won the last seven meetings between the teams and haven’t lost to Gold Coast at Cbus Super Stadium since 2009.
However, the Rabbitohs aren’t travelling great at the moment – they’ve lost their last two matches after previously winning six straight, while Latrell Mitchell is out after picking up an injury in the lead-up to Origin.
Souths were out enthused by the Eels a fortnight ago and were ambushed by the Raiders late last week. Cameron Murray and Jai Arrow will be monitored after playing Origin on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, the Titans haven’t won since Magic Round, losing by 20 points to the Knights and by two against the Bulldogs before last week’s bye.
Gold Coast are capable of some brilliant attacking football, but they remain far too inconsistent to be a genuine threat in this competition.
When things go wrong, the Titans can be guilty of shutting down, conceding 28+ points in three of their last four defeats, also leaking 43+ points in two of those.
VERDICT:
Not totally sold on the Rabbitohs here without Latrell, but the Titans are missing Kieran Foran and AJ Brimson and their defence is always suspect, which isn’t great when you face one of the most blistering attacks in the NRL.
Souths should be up for this one after their recent efforts, so going to back them to cover a -7.5 line – something they’ve achieved in six of their last seven wins over the Titans (Best Rabbitohs -7.5 line odds $1.87 with bet365.)
