Titans vs Rabbitohs Preview and Prediction
South Sydney go in search of their sixth straight win in the NRL and fifth consecutive victory over Gold Coast when the two sides clash on Friday night.
After losing their opening round to reigning premiers to Melbourne, the Rabbitohs have won five matches on the bounce over the Sea Eagles, Roosters, Bulldogs, Broncos and Tigers.
However, that streak almost came to an end last week, with Tom Burgess barging over for a try in golden point to hand Souths a 18-14 win.
The Bunnies have suffered a couple of blows heading into this one – the in-form Latrell Mitchell has been suspended for three games, while winger Josh Mansour is out injured.
Meanwhile, the Titans were humiliated by Manly last week in Mudgee, falling in a crushing 36-0 defeat that has them going back to square one for this clash.
Gold Coast had won three of their last four games heading into that game, while Manly had only won one match for the season – but Tom Trbojevic’s return propelled the Sea Eagles to a dominant victory.
The Titans fell back into old habits in that loss and will be keen to rectify those mistakes immediately in front of their home fans.
With the Titans failing to score a point last week and Souths seeing some key point scorers out, I can see a relatively low-scoring game playing out on Friday night.
The Rabbitohs have won the last four meetings between the teams and are on a five-match winning streak, so I’m backing the Bunnies home in a tight one.
