Newcastle Knights vs South Sydney Rabbitohs Preview & Prediction

It’s arguably the match of the round as the Knights and Rabbitohs look to take one step closer to finals footy on Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Newcastle are sitting in seventh spot on the back of six consecutive victories, while the Rabbitohs are clinging onto eighth after losing four of their last seven matches.

The Knights have all the momentum, but apart from the Storm, most of their wins have been against the bottom sides or the out-of-form Raiders.

Beating the Bulldogs twice, the Tigers and Dolphins isn’t anything to write home about, so this will be a true indication of where the Knights really stand.

Souths meanwhile are running out of chances to click before the finals – and that’s presuming they even qualify in the top eight.

The Rabbitohs are back at full-strength, but they are far from their best, barely getting over the top of the Dragons last week.

Considerable improvement is needed, but the Rabbitohs know when they get it right, they’re capable of beating any side in the competition.

VERDICT

I think this could be the game where Souths step it up. As mentioned, not convinced with Newcastle’s form line as most of those wins have been against terrible teams.

The Rabbitohs have won 12 of the last 14 meetings between the teams and this is their biggest game of the season. Time for the Bunnies to step it up (Best Rabbitohs win H2H odds $1.70 with bet365.)
