Roosters vs Raiders Preview and Prediction

The Roosters are fading away from the top four and the Raiders are losing distance with the top eight, making this a must-win clash for both sides on Saturday night.

It’s been a tough season so far for the Roosters due to injuries, but for the most part, they’ve handled the situation well – until last week, where they were stunned by the Broncos at the SCG.

It was a controversial game where Victor Radley was sin-binned twice and put on report multiple times that will ultimately see him miss the next five matches. The Broncos also scored a pair of tries from what appeared to be forward passes.

It was the first time the Roosters had lost to a team outside the top eight this season and they will be determined for an immediate response on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the Raiders continue to struggle with injuries and slumped to their sixth loss in the last seven weeks to a depleted Melbourne last week.

Canberra started strongly but proceeded to conceded 34 unanswered points as they limped to another heavy defeat.

The Raiders have developed a worrying trend of being blown away in the second half of matches and that’s something that needs to be addressed immediately if they want to return to the top eight after dropping down to 11th on the ladder.

With both teams desperate for the two points, we’re backing a relatively low-scoring game here. Only one of the last 11 matches between the sides has gone over 44 total points, while both sides are missing their key playmakers for various reasons.

The Roosters were unlikely last week and have been strong against sides below them on the ladder this season for the most part. Canberra have only beaten the last-placed Bulldogs in the last seven weeks and will likely struggle to make an impact again here.
