Tigers vs Raiders Preview and Prediction
It’s a big game for both these teams as the Raiders and Tigers attempt to return to the winners circle following poor performances last week.
Canberra won their opening three matches and conceded just one try in each, but they were blown off the park by a rampant Knights outfit last week, leaking 34 points in a comprehensive defeat.
There is a case to argue that the Raiders were a little complement following their clinical win over Melbourne in the previous round, so coach Ricky Stuart will be demanding a statement display here and a tighter defence.
Josh Hodgson will be revving himself up for a big game, with his opposite number Harry Grant one of the most impressive young players in the competition and eager to earn his stripes.
Meanwhile, it’s more of the same for the Tigers and that’s inconsistency. Michael Maguire’s side are brilliant one week and terrible the next and it’s a problem that’s plagued the club for a long time now.
Last week’s loss against the Titans wasn’t up to scratch if the joint-venture club harbour ambitions of making the finals in 2020, especially when you consider Gold Coast hadn’t won in 364 days prior to that game.
Maguire has made a lot of changes as a result, but the reality is you never know what you’re going to get with the Tigers. Canberra are by far the more steady side, and I expect them to bounce back with a clean win on Saturday.
