Cowboys vs Wests Tigers Preview and Prediction

Wests Tigers attempt to keep their slim finals hopes alive when they square off against the Cowboys in Townsville on Saturday night.

North Queensland may be on an eight-match losing streak, but we think they are solid value to snap that run in front of their home fans.

The Cowboys have been pretty good at home all season and have won five of their last eight games in Townsville.

Those three defeats have come against Melbourne (where they pushed the competition leaders all the way in a 20-16 loss), the Roosters and Sharks.

Additionally, the Cowboys were able to claim their only away win of the season over the Tigers back in April, so they know they can get the job done.

The Tigers also have a long history of wasting their chances – and even though they are unlikely to make the finals, they have a decent run home against the Sharks, Bulldogs and Panthers.

The fact remains that the Tigers simply can’t be trusted as favourites – and they’ve won back-to-back games just once in the last 12 months. The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs last week, but weren’t convincing at all against the wooden spooners in-waiting.

VERDICT:

North Queensland have been solid at home all season and we think they are good value as the underdogs here.

The Tigers are as unreliable as they come and lost to the Cowboys at home earlier this season. We’ll be taking the Cowboys at the line and putting a further something on them to pull off the upset (Best Cowboys +4 Line odds $1.90 with Ladbrokes).
