After a shock loss to Brisbane last week, Adelaide United look to get their season back on track against the struggling Central Coast Mariners on Friday night.

Adelaide vs Central Coast kicks off at 7.30pm AEDT at Coopers Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

With seven wins from their last nine games against the Mariners at home, Adelaide will be confident of returning to the winners circle this week and further entrenching themselves in the top six.

Adelaide were on a three-match winning streak heading into last week, but after taking the lead against Brisbane they suffered a surprising 2-1 loss at Suncorp, leaving them just three points ahead of seventh-placed Western United.

Nevertheless, the Reds are still in total control of their finals destiny, and with the Mariners in shambles at the moment, they will fancy their chances of claiming all three points and pushing back towards the top four.

Central Coast actually beat Adelaide in their last meeting in December in Gosford, but they’ve only won one game from their last seven meetings and have sunk to equal last on the ladder as a result.

It appeared as if the Mariners could challenge for a finals spot this season, but they’ve slipped back into old habits and after losing 4-3 to fellow battlers Newcastle in the F3 derby last week, there season is all but over.

The Mariners have also lost their last six A-League games on the trot – all up, it looms as an excellent chance for Adelaide to find their best form again and possibly climb into the top four.
