Only one point away from the top four, Brisbane will view this clash as an excellent chance to break into that elite quartet on Friday night.

After a slow start to the season that threatened to see them miss out on the finals again, Brisbane have turned things around superbly in 2020, going unbeaten in nine of their last 11 games to surge into the top six.

The Roar have won six of those encounters and are playing some of their best football in years under the tutelage of Robbie Fowler.

Only one point adrift of Perth in fourth, Brisbane will temporarily crack the top four with a win on Friday night – and if Sydney FC beat Glory on Saturday, they would remain their for the week.

Meanwhile, the Mariners are staring down the barrel off another wooden spoon and have slipped back into old habits over the course of the last two months.

After picking up 13 points in their first 12 matches, Central Coast have lost their last eight games and could easily break an unwanted club record which stands at 10.

New Zealand Knights hold the record for the most consecutive A-League defeats with 11 and it’s looking like Brisbane will send the Mariners closer to that mark on Friday.

Brisbane haven’t lost to Central Coast in their last 17 A-League matches dating back to 2014 and it’s unlikely the Mariners will snap that drought. Expect another win for the Roar.
