A-League football for the decade comes to a close in Gosford on Tuesday night as Central Coast Mariners play host to Perth Glory in the traditional New Year’s Eve clash.

Mariners vs Glory kicks off at 7.00pm AEDT at Central Coast Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

Two in-form sides square off on New Year’s Eve as the Mariners and Glory aim to continue their positive form and close out 2019 with a victory.

Perth have well and truly hit their stride over the last month, registering three consecutive wins to vault from last place on the ladder and into the top four heading into this encounter.

It was surely only a matter of time before Tony Popovic’s side found their groove, and they produced their best display of the season last week as they thrashed Newcastle 6-2 at home, with the likes of Diego Castro and Bruno Fornaroli terrorising the hapless Jets defence.

Glory will be determined to keep their winning streak going, but they certainly won’t be underestimating the Mariners, who of course posted a 2-1 win over them back in Round 4 at HBF Park.

Alen Stajcic has done wonders for Central Coast since stepping into the manager role and he has the reigning wooden spooners just two points outside of the top six coming into this showdown.

After playing reigning premiers Sydney FC close in a 1-0 defeat a fortnight ago, the Mariners continued their good form at home last week as they conquered Adelaide by a 2-1 scoreline, with Kye Rowles and Milan Duric getting on the scoresheet.

Without back-to-back wins since December 2017, can the Mariners end 2019 with a bang? They will be confident after their win over Perth earlier this season, but Glory are a different team now. In saying that, the Mariners are very hard to beat these days, so both teams might have to be content with a share of the spoils.
