City and Glory head the pursuit of runaway leaders Sydney FC at the top of the A-League and it promises to be a ripper when they meet at AAMI Park.
Hosts City sit in second place, two points clear of Perth but having played a game more. That makes this game key – even at this mid-point of the season – in the race for a top-two finish.
It has benen dramatic turnaround in fortunes since Glory defeated City 3-0 at home in December, a victory which came with the Perth side sitting at the wrong end of the ladder.
That game kicked off a run of six successive wins with five clean sheets to move the Glory up to third spot.
The loss to Glory started a run of just one win in four games for City, but they have bounced back in the last three weeks with victories over Western United and Newcastle Jets and a share of the points with Brisbane Roar.
It has been better from Melbourne City, but you can’t go against this Glory side at the moment. They are showing the kind of form that took them to the minor premiership and a penalty shoot out defeat to Sydney FC in last year’s Grand Final.
