City and Victory collide in the second Melbourne derby of the season, with the last three meetings between these sides resulting in a draw.

However, City are in far superior form to that of their cross-town rivals so far this season, winning six of their opening nine games to hold down second spot on the ladder.

Erick Mombaerts’ side produced their best performance of the season last week as they thumped Newcastle 4-0 in the Hunter. Adrian Luna bagged himself a double, while Jamie Maclaren and Marcelo Cabrera also got on the scoresheet in the dominant victory.

It was the kind of performance that could see City claim a first piece of silverware this season, but they’ve always struggled with their consistency, so backing it up against their biggest rival would be a huge confidence boost.

Victory are desperate for all three points as they look to kick-start their season heading into the busy festive period.

It’s been a poor start from Marco Kurz’s team, with Victory winning just two of their first 10 games to come into this clash in eighth spot on the ladder.
