Match Preview

It’s a crucial game for both sides as City and Wanderers square off on Saturday night at AAMI Park.

City can establish themselves in second spot with a victory, while the Wanderers need to win to keep pace with the top six.

Western Sydney’s finals chances took a hit last week when they were upstaged 3-1 by Brisbane, leaving them trailing sixth spot by three points heading into this weekend.

It’s not panic stations just yet, but there isn’t much room for error if you’re the Wanderers – and a trip to the competition’s second-placed team isn’t exactly ideal after coming off a demoralising defeat last week.

City have been inconsistent again for most of the season, but they highlighted just how good they can be when they toppled Perth 3-2 in the west last week.

That win lifted City into outright second spot, and depending on other results, they could create a sizeable lead over third and fourth by taking all three points.

Western Sydney have a terrible record in Victoria, while City have won their last two meetings by scoring three goals in each game. It should be another victory for the home side on Saturday.
