Both Newcastle Jets and Brisbane Roar will be desperate for all three points as the two teams square off in Round 12 of the A-League on Saturday night.

Jets vs Roar kicks off at 7.30pm AEDT at McDonald Jones Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

It’s ninth up against tenth as Newcastle and Brisbane lock horns in a crucial clash to end the decade for both clubs in the Hunter on Saturday night.

Newcastle are on a disastrous run and come into this side on the back of conceding 10 goals in their last two defeats against City and Perth.

The Jets have dished out arguably their worst two performances in the last couple of seasons over the last two weeks, losing 4-0 to City and 6-2 to Perth.

Injuries are playing their part, with experienced trio Wes Hoolahan, Abdiel Arroyo and captain Nigel Boogaard all out of action indefinitely.

The five youngest players on the pitch against Perth were all members of the Jets outfit, and without a proven goalscorer up front and the worst defence in the competition, it’s hard to see Newcastle turning things around any time soon.

Meanwhile, Brisbane aren’t faring much better after receiving the bye last week, coming into this clash in ninth place following a 5-1 loss to Sydney and 2-0 defeat to Western United in their last two fixtures.

The Roar have also been struggling significantly to find the back of the net – and if they can’t fire in some goals against the shaky Newcastle defence, there’s not much hope for the rest of their campaign.

Neither side brings any sort of form or confidence into this game, which could lead to a tense affair. I don’t have much faith in either team at the moment, so I’ll back a low-scoring draw.
