Never before in their history have Perth won three straight games while keeping a clean sheet – could they do it for the first time on Saturday night against a Jets side who are licking their wounds from last week?

Perth experienced a slow start to the season, but they appear to be clicking into gear, surging into fifth spot on the ladder after a 3-0 win over City and 2-0 triumph over the Wanderers in the last fortnight.

It’s understandable that Glory would take a while to get going this season after making the Grand Final last campaign, but Tony Popovic will be hoping his team can maintain this momentum and stay in the top six for the remainder of the season.

And with a dominant record over Newcastle, nothing but three points will suffice for Glory on Saturday night.

Newcastle looked as though they could be turning a corner after wins over the Wanderers and Western United in recent weeks, but they have come crashing back down to earth over the last two weeks, losing a game they should have won against Adelaide before suffering an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to City at home.

It was easily Newcastle’s worst performance of the season and arguably of the last two years – can Ernie Merrick rally his troops for a strong bounce back in the west?
