Match Preview
Ten points clear at the top of the table and minor premiers in-waiting, Sydney FC will be out to keep their winning momentum going when they meet Perth in a Grand Final rematch on Saturday.
After conquering Glory for the 2018-19 premier’s plate last season, Sydney repeated the triumph with a 3-1 victory back in Round 7 at HBF Park.
Sydney found themselves in a tiny rough patch last month as they went winless in two Champions League games and lost the derby to the Wanderers, but they bounced back to form last week with a crushing 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory.
Four different players found the back of the net that night, including Milos Ninkovic, Anthony Caceres, Adam Le Fondre and Kosta Barbarouses, further highlighting how dangerous they are all over the field.
Meanwhile, Perth haven’t won since February 7 and come into this encounter on the back of consecutive defeats against Newcastle Jets and Melbourne City.
Those results have seen Glory slip to fourth spot on the ladder and just three points above seventh-placed Adelaide United.
Another loss against Sydney and Perth could find themselves battling to stay in the top six – an inconceivable thought a month or so ago.
Sydney have won 12 of their last 13 games against Perth, and given the respective form of both teams and with Steve Corica’s team playing at home, it looks like the Sky Blues will prevail again.
