On a three-match winning streak and playing some of the best football in the competition, Wellington have the opportunity to possibly rise into second on the table on Sunday.

Not since 2015 have Phoenix won four A-League games on the bounce, but if they can do that against Victory – and Melbourne City fall to Western Sydney Wanderers – the Kiwi club will move into second.

After a slow start to the season, Ufuk Talay’s side have been extremely impressive and at the very least appear destined to play finals football.

Wellington come into this encounter on the back of a 3-1 win over Central Coast and will be confident of claiming their first win over Victory in over two years.

Victory have endured a season to forget and could just about kiss their finals chances goodbye if they fail to take all three points across the ditch.

Seven points adrift of the top six, Victory have only won one of their last eight games and are heading into this showdown following a 4-1 beatdown to Sydney FC in last week’s Big Blue.

As mentioned, Victory haven’t lost to Wellington since January 2018, but five of their last six meetings have ended in a draw, which won’t be good for enough for Carlos Salvachua’s side.

Phoenix are the team in form and Victory don’t look like changing their season around – I’m backing the home team to take all three points and register their fourth win on the trot.
