It’s top vs bottom across the ditch on Saturday afternoon as high-flying Phoenix squares off against embattled Western United at Sky Stadium.

Wellington have been on fire all season and deservedly lead the ladder heading into Round 16, two points clear of reigning premiers the Mariners and three points ahead of unbeaten Melbourne Victory.

While it’s obviously been a dream season for Phoenix, they know the importance of maintaining their momentum with a game at home against the last-placed team – especially with Wellington having drawn three of the last four matches.

Meanwhile, Western are enduring a nightmare campaign and they will do well to simply avoid the wooden spoon, let alone qualify for the top six and finals.

Western have won just two of their 14 games this term, losing 10 and scoring just 13 goals on the season (the next worst is Brisbane and they have 10 more with 23).
