Adelaide United look to cement their top four status when they face Western Sydney Wanderers in A-League Round 20 action on Friday night.

With four wins from their last five games, Adelaide bring strong form into this showdown as they search for a third straight away victory over the Wanderers.

After a bit of a mid-season blip, Adelaide are back on track despite a lengthy injury list, bouncing back from a loss to Brisbane by taking care of Central Coast by a 2-0 scoreline last weekend.

That result leaves Adelaide nestled nicely inside the top four, but with Wellington breathing down their necks, they need to keep winning to remain in that bracket.

In saying that, the Reds are just three points off second spot, and if they beat the Wanderers, they will draw level with Melbourne City, who have the bye this week.

Meanwhile, nothing less than all three points will do for the Wanderers, who are seven points adrift of the finals after a 1-1 draw with Newcastle last weekend.

Western Sydney have picked up four points from a possible six since sacking Markus Babbel, but they have a big mountain to climb if they are to play finals football this season.

After an early penalty put them ahead against the Jets, Western Sydney struggled for the remainder of the game and rarely threatened. Adelaide have been in better form and are worth backing as underdogs here.
