Western Sydney Wanderers attempt to avoid a sixth straight loss when they play host to Western United to open A-League Round 11 action on Friday night.
Wanderers vs United kicks off at 7.30pm AEDT at Bankwest Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.
It’s been a nightmare last couple of months for the Wanderers and things could get worse if they fail to turn it around against United on Friday night.
Western Sydney are on the brink of equalling an unwanted club record, with their loss to Perth last week extending their current losing streak to five matches.
Lose again to United and the Wanderers will equal the club’s worst losing streak of six, which happened last season.
The Wanderers started the season brightly and produced an outstanding display to beat Sydney FC back in Round 3, but they haven’t won since and have dropped out of the top six.
Meanwhile, United have returned to form after going three games without scoring a goal, beating Victory 3-1 and Brisbane 2-0 over the last fortnight.
Those results have propelled United up to third on the ladder, three points behind Melbourne City and eight behind runaway leaders Sydney.
United will be aiming to win three games in a row for the first time in their history on Friday night. The Wanderers should be better at Bankwest, but it’s hard to back them in their current form.
