Match Preview
Two of the A-League’s most out-of-form sides collide on Sunday with a crucial three points up for grabs.
United started the season with a bang and were looking like genuine premiership contenders across the first couple of months, but that charge has been derailed in recent times following a large period lacklustre play.
Indeed, United failed to score a single goal throughout the entire month of February and they will be hoping this game on March 1 brings them different fortune.
Mark Rudan’s side have slipped to eighth on the ladder and six points adrift of the finals after last week’s 2-0 loss to Wellington.
Meanwhile, it’s looking like it could be another wooden spoon season for Central Coast, especially with the rejuvenated Jets looking like they could climb up the table.
The Mariners also showcased encouraging signs early in the season, but they’ve now lost their last six matches and are anchored to the bottom of the ladder.
I’m not confident in backing either side in this contest, but United have the better team on paper – and at home with their finals hopes on the line against the team on the foot of the ladder, surely they’ll find their goalscoring form again.
Match Odds
