The Wanderers are targeting their fourth straight win over Western United when the two teams square off at CommBank Stadium on Friday night.

With just one win from their last five games, the Wanderers have slipped to sixth on the ladder and are now in a dogfight to secure a finals spot.

Western Sydney’s lowest point of the season came last weekend as they went down 4-1 at home to bitter rivals Sydney FC, which saw the Sky Blues leapfrog them on the ladder.

Embroiled in controversy off the field as well, it certainly hasn’t been ideal preparation for the Wanderers heading into this must-win clash.

Meanwhile, it’s been a season to forget for Western United, with John Aloisi’s side rock bottom on the ladder with just four wins from their 19 games.

Western have made some small strides in recent weeks though, going unbeaten in three of their last four games and beating the likes of the Jets and Perth last week to give themselves a good chance of avoiding the wooden spoon.
