After registering a 1-0 win over Chiangrai United in their opening Group E encounter last week, Victory have the chance to take box seat after two games if they can upset FC Seoul in South Korea on Tuesday night.
A 25th minute penalty from Ola Toivonen was enough for Victory to claim all three points on Matchday 1 and they will be hoping their Swedish striker can get on the scoresheet once more.
Coming off a bye in the A-League this past weekend, Victory should be fresh and ready to go – although they have yet to fully hit their straps domestically, languishing in ninth spot on the ladder, trailing the top six by nine points.
Meanwhile, Seoul are playing their first game of the AFC Champions League after their scheduled first group clash with Beijing Guoan was postponed due to the Corona Virus outbreak in China.
Seoul finished third in last season’s K-League and qualified for the AFC Champions League after beating Malaysian side Kedah FC.
The 2020 K-League season gets underway next week, meaning Seoul haven’t had much competitive match-play this year. In saying that, Victory have traditionally struggled on Asian soil in the Champions League and are in poor form in the A-League this season.
It would be a big surprise if Seoul didn’t come away with a positive result in this one.
