Croatia vs Brazil Preview & Prediction
Brazil were clear favourites to lift the World Cup before the competition and nothing has changed ahead of their quarter-final showdown with Croatia on Saturday morning AEDT.
It’s been smooth sailing for Brazil so far in Qatar – they qualified for the knockout phase with room to spare after 2-0 and 1-0 victories over Serbia and Switzerland respectively, while the Selecao went off in a crushing 4-1 demolition of South Korea in the R16 earlier in the week.
Neymar returned for that victory, linking up with fellow attackers Vinicius Junior and Richarlison, who have both been electric all tournament.
A blockbuster all-South American semi-final with Argentina is on the horizon, but both teams have work to do before then and Brazil can’t afford to underestimate their quarter-final opponents.

Croatia have won both of their previous World Cup quarter-final matches, advancing all the way to the final in Russia four years ago.
Zlatko Dalic’s side have done a tremendous job in returning to the quarter-finals, but you get the feeling this team is starting to feel the pinch.
Led by Luka Modric, this Croatian side is an ageing unit and they’ve looked flat for long stages throughout this tournament, including 0-0 draws with Morocco and Belgium, while they were fortunate to escape Japan in the R16.
Croatia got back into the game and forced extra-time courtesy of a bullet header from Ivan Perisic – and some shocking penalties from Japan saw them advance.
VERDICT:
Brazil are playing some explosive football and their attack is absolutely all-star. Croatia have battled hard in Qatar and have some individual quality, but as mentioned, this team is ageing and they’ve looked lacklustre at times.
Eight of Brazil’s last 11 wins have been to nil and if they open the scoring, they should be able to frustrate the Croatians and keep a clean sheet to progress to the final four (Best Brazil win to nil odds $2.10 with bet365.)
