France are one-step away from defending their champions of the world status when they face Morocco in the semi-final of the World Cup on Thursday morning (AEDT) at Al Bayt Stadium. France find themselves in this position following a nervy 1-2 triumph over optimistic England despite giving away two penalties, one dispatched by Harry Kane to equal Wayne Rooney as the best English goalscorer, and the other sent into orbit by England’s captain.

In the process of general play, France typically had less of the ball than usual and had to play with a different mindset in the Quarter-final. It will be a different case at Al Bayt stadium against the Moroccans. It would be an absolute miracle if Morocco can pull off an upset victory on Thursday (AEDT) considering all of the factors between the two nations. France haven’t lost a knockout game in a World Cup for eight years. They are also undefeated against the African nation in 10 of the 11 meetings, with the only Morocco triumph coming in 1963.

VERDICT:
