ATP Acapulco Tips & Predictions

Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas has been handed an extremely tough draw at the ATP 500 Acapulco tournament this week and the Greek will do very well to survive it.

It starts off easy enough with the disinterested Benoit Paire, but then Tsitsipas potentially has John Isner and Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round and quarter-finals respectively – players he has 2-2 records against.

Throw in Grigor Dimitrov and Diego Schwartzman also lurking in the top half of the draw and I don’t like Tsitsipas’ chances in these conditions. Isner always plays well in Acapulco but hasn’t played many matches, which makes me lean towards Dimitrov and Auger-Aliassime from this section.

The bottom half doesn’t have the same depth, which means Alexander Zverev and Milos Raonic shouldn’t have too much trouble in setting up a semi-final showdown.

Zverev didn’t play well in Rotterdam in losing his opening match to Alexander Bublik, while Raonic is typically reliable in these hardcourt events.

Raonic’s huge serve will be a massive weapon in these conditions and I can see the Canadian going all the way as a result – perhaps handing compatriot Auger-Aliassime another loss in a final in the process.
