ATP Dubai Tips & Predictions
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal may not be playing this week, but a stellar field has still travelled to Dubai for the 500-level tournament, led by top 10 stars Dominic Thiem and Andrey Rublev.
Thiem may be the top seed, but the Austrian is certainly not the favourite to come away with the title after a tough start to the season that has seen him exit early at the Australian Open and last week in Doha.
Rublev on the other hand will once again be expected to go deep. The Russian has incredibly won four straight ATP 500 titles and 20 matches in a row at this level, with the last of those coming just a couple of weeks ago in Rotterdam.
After enjoying two withdrawals and a bye to make the Doha semi-finals last week before losing to Roberto Bautista Agut, Rublev is fresh and once again looks the man to beat at a 500 tournament.
Bautista Agut can’t be discounted after the Spaniard made the Doha final, losing to Nikoloz Basilashvili on the weekend. He traditionally starts seasons well and has had success in Dubai before, winning the 2018 title.
Alex de Minaur is always tough to beat in these conditions, while other names to look out for include the likes of Denis Shapovalov, David Goffin and Kei Nishikori.
Rublev has got to be considered the favourite once more, while Nishikori is starting to get more matches under his belt and could be a good outside bet here.
