Alex de Minaur vs Pablo Cuevas Tips & Predictions

After missing last year’s Australian Open through injury, De Minaur is determined to make up for lost time in this season’s edition, and he will be looking to reach the third round when he meets Cuevas on Thursday night.

De Minaur couldn’t have started the season in better fashion as he claimed the ATP 250 title in Antalya before flying to Australia to quarantine. He got two solid workouts in the ATP Cup in going down to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Roberto Bautista Agut before easing past an erratic Tennis Sandgren in straight sets in his opening round.

Meanwhile, Cuevas – one of the star’s of hotel quarantine when it came to social media – scored a confidence-boosting four-set win over the experienced Andreas Seppi. The Italian always play well in Australia and has beaten Roger Federer at this tournament, so it was a very solid victory for Cuevas.

These two have never played before and I think this could turn into an entertaining encounter under the lights.

Cuevas is a showman and has all the shots, while he prefers clay, the Uruguayan has the ability to grind with the best of them on hardcourt.

I expect De Minaur to outlast him when push comes to shove, especially with the crowd behind him, but Cuevas can definitely make a match out of this.
