Rafael Nadal vs Michael Mmoh Tips & Predictions

After finishing strongly in his opening round match, Nadal will be aiming to bring that momentum into his second round showdown with Mmoh on Thursday.

Admitting to experiencing back problems last week that caused him to pull out of the ATP Cup, Nadal looked fairly unhampered against Djere on Tuesday, easily dispatching the Serbian in straight sets.

It was a routine win for the 2009 Australian Open champion and the perfect match for Nadal to ease his way into the tournament for the greater challenges ahead.

By contrast, Mmoh toiled away for over four hours before finally getting the better of fellow qualifier Viktor Troicki in a gruelling five-setter.

Mmoh showcased immense fighting spirit to come back from 0-4 down in the fifth set to advance into the Australian Open second round for the second straight year.

However, Mmoh will need more than fighting qualities to trouble Nadal on Thursday. The Spaniard was looking good towards the end of his win over Djere and doesn’t appear to be hindered by his back.

Mmoh will need to be aggressive and take repeated risks, but that won’t even be enough. Nadal should be winning this one comfortably.
