Berrettini vs Hurkacz Tips & Predictions

An outstanding opportunity awaits both Berrettini and Hurkacz as the pair face off for a place in the Wimbledon final on Friday.

Both players are competing in their maiden Wimbledon semi-final and know this is a great chance to reach a first major final.

Berrettini has been on fire since transitioning onto grass, winning the Queen’s Club title in the lead-in to Wimbledon before surging into the semi-finals for the loss of just two sets.

The Italian has been serving out of a tree, firing down 79 aces so far, while he is dictating play with his powerful forehand and using his slice backhand very effectively when needing to neutralise baseline exchanges.

Berrettini dispatched good friend Felix Auger-Aliassime in four sets in the quarter-finals and it’s clear it’s going to take a big performance to take him out here.

Hurkacz is certainly capable of doing that – the Pole has conquered some big names en route to his first major semi-final, including young gun Lorenzo Musetti, the unpredictable Alexander Bublik, second seed Daniil Medvedev and the legendary Roger Federer.

Hurkacz – who won the Miami Masters earlier this season – even managed to bagel Federer 6-0 on his way to the dominant straight sets triumph.

The Polish player also leads the H2H 1-0, although that match happened on hardcourt a couple of years ago and largely goes out the window in a match of this magnitude.

Berrettini has the edge in our book – he is 23-5 lifetime on grass and has been building nicely all grass swing. Hurkacz is having a fantastic tournament and can certainly take a set – maybe even two – but we think Berrettini’s power and ability to win cheap points will get him over the line.
