The Zipping Classic — formerly the Sandown Classic — is a $500,000 Group 2 weight-for-age stayers’ race over 2400m run at Caulfield in late November, where it has been staged since its permanent move from Sandown in 2021. Named after the champion stayer Zipping (2010-2011 two-time winner), it is the traditional curtain-call on the Melbourne spring carnival.
