How the Dally M Medal Works

The Dally M Medal is decided by a panel of judges who award votes after each NRL match during the regular season. The judges award 3 points to the best player, 2 to the second-best, and 1 to the third-best in each game.

Votes are tallied publicly for the first portion of the season before going behind closed doors, adding suspense to the Dally M night ceremony. In 2026 the cut-off was Round 12, and the last public leaderboard is below. The player with the most points at the end of the regular season wins the medal.

Unlike the AFL’s Brownlow Medal, suspended players remain eligible for the Dally M, though they cannot accumulate votes during the matches they miss.
