How the 2026 Everest Was Won
Tempted jumped cleanly from the rail and settled closer to the speed than expected, while Ka Ying Rising was caught wide from barrier 11 and settled about sixth. The Hong Kong champion finished strongly but could not get past, and his trainer David Hayes said afterwards the draw cost him. Joliestar ($19) was a neck further back in third.
What the Result Means
Tempted, a four-year-old mare who was second in the race from the same gate in 2025, adds The Everest to an unbeaten 2026 campaign for Ciaron Maher and Chad Schofield. Ka Ying Rising’s defeat ends a run of 21 straight wins.
How our tips went: our best bet Ka Ying Rising was beaten, but our named danger Tempted won, so the quinella of the two that we suggested came in. The exacta with Ka Ying Rising on top did not.
