Van Gisbergen has won two of the last three editions of the Bathurst 1000 and he’s once again the deserved favourite in what is set to be his final race on Mount Panorama. There’s talk that Van Gisbergen has been distracted as he prepares to head to NASCAR in America, but he’s a competitor first and foremost and would love nothing more than adding a third title in Bathurst to his mantlepiece. Van Gisbergen was looking good in the closing stages of Sandown and the motivation for one last tilt at Mount Panorama could prove the difference in what is looking like another close race.
