2020 Bathurst 1000 Tips, Odds & Predictions

Bathurst 1000 Tips – Leading Contenders

Scott McLaughlin & Tim Slade ($3.75 – bet365)

McLaughlin already has an unassailable lead at the tip of the driver’s championship and winning the Bathurst 1000 would be the icing on the cake. McLaughlin of course reigned supreme in Bathurst last year in controversial circumstances with Alex Bremat and is a very good chance of defending his crown alongside veteran Tim Slade.

Jamie Whincup & Craig Lowndes ($4.50 – Ladbrokes)

Whincup and Lowndes are the most experienced team at the 2020 Bathurst 1000 and are always reliable on the mountain with an incredible 11 wins between them. The pair emerged victorious at Bathurst in three consecutive years between 2006-08 and reunited for the first time since 2009 at last year’s race, finishing a respectable fourth. During Holden Commodore’s final year at Bathurst, it would be a fairytale ending if Whincup and Lowndes could guide the model to victory one final time.

Shane Van Gisbergen & Garth Tander ($5.50 – bet365)

Arguably the best current driver not to have prevailed at Mount Panorama, Van Gisbergen gets another chance to claim that elusive victory as he teams up with three-time champion Garth Tander this year. Van Gisbergen endured a nightmare start to his Supercars campaign in 2020, but he’s tasted victory in the last three rounds and has unfinished business in Bathurst. This pair are extremely solid value at $5.50 and will surely be in contention come the finish.

Cameron Waters & Will Davison ($7.00 – Neds)

Another team that appears excellent value at $7.00 with Neds. Waters has been in tremendous recent form and claimed a maiden Supercars win at Talem Bend, while Davison is a two-time winner in Bathurst and will be determined to give a good account of himself given the 23Red saga.

Best Roughies

David Reynolds & Will Brown ($21 – Neds)

Reynolds is gunning for his second Bathurst win after triumphing in 2017 and teams up with relative rookie Will Brown in 2020. Reynolds hasn’t been at his best this season, coming into Bathurst 11th in the driver’s championship, but he has a knack of saving his best performances for the biggest races, and Mount Panorama certainly suits the mould.

Mark Winterbottom & James Golding ($51 – bet365)

Winterbottom and Golding appear to be well and truly over the odds if you’re looking for a roughie at excellent value. Golding hasn’t had a full-time drive in 2020 and with nothing officially in place for 2021 as of yet, he will be determined to make an impact in Bathurst, while Winterbottom – the 2013 winner – remains one of the best and most experienced drivers going around.
