Brazil vs Switzerland Preview & Prediction

Brazil continue their quest for a sixth World Cup and first trophy since 2002 when they meet Switzerland on Monday.

Both teams claimed all three points in their respective competition openers, with Brazil easing past Serbia 2-0 and Switzerland holding off Cameroon 1-0.

Richarlison was the main man for Brazil in the win over Serbia, becoming just the eighth Brazilian to have scored two or more goals on his World Cup debut.

However, it wasn’t all good news for Brazil, with Neymar going off with an injured ankle that is set to sideline him for the remainder of the group stage.

Neymar has stated he expects to be fit for the R16 onwards and Brazil would expect to navigate the rest of this group without him.

Switzerland meanwhile simply did what they needed to do in order to scrape a 1-0 victory over Cameroon. It wasn’t an entirely convincing performance however and they will need to offer some more going forward if they are to trouble Brazil.

Breel Embolo got on the scoresheet for the Swiss and will be looking to double down here. If Switzerland can manage at least a point, they will be confident of making it out of the group, but things will most likely come down to their final group game against Serbia.

VERDICT:

Brazil are worthy favourites for the World Cup and you’d expect them to take another three points here, even with Neymar injured.
