Tour Championship 2026 Winner | Scheffler Takes a Second FedExCup

Scottie Scheffler closed with a 66 to win the Tour Championship at 16 under and claim a second FedExCup, worth $10 million from a $40 million purse, with Min Woo Lee the best of the Australasians in a share of fourth.

Scottie Scheffler has closed out the 2026 PGA Tour season the way he has closed out most of it. A final-round 66 took him to 16 under par (264) at East Lake and delivered a second FedExCup to go with his 2024 title.

He did not lead going into Sunday. Viktor Hovland started the final round a shot clear and was still in front on the back nine, but a bogey at the 17th handed Scheffler a three-shot cushion with one to play. Neither Hovland nor Ryan Gerard could respond: both closed with a 72. Hovland finished second on 13 under (267) and Gerard third on 12 under (268), so Scheffler won by three shots.

How Scheffler won it

The 2026 format removed the starting-strokes handicap, so all 30 players began level and East Lake became a straight 72-hole tournament. That was supposed to make it harder for the man at the top of the standings to convert. It did not.

Scheffler started the final round three back and shot the lowest number of anyone in the last few groups. Hovland had been the better player for three days and led by one overnight, but the 17th settled it: a bogey there, with Scheffler already posted, turned a one-shot game into a three-shot one.

It is the third playoff event of the year in which Scheffler was a factor on Sunday. He won the St Jude by eight, finished behind Wyndham Clark at the BMW, and has now won the one that decides the season.

Scheffler was the only player in the field to break 70 on Sunday from inside the last three groups. Alex Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele also closed in 66, from further back.

The money: what each player earned

This is the richest week of the golf season and it pays a long way down the field. The Tour Championship purse is $40 million across a field of just 30 players, so every man who teed it up at East Lake leaves with a six-figure cheque at minimum.

The runner-up collects $5 million and third place $3.75 million. Every one of the top eight banks more than $1 million, and the player who finishes 30th still takes $355,000 for four rounds.

One point worth being clear about, because it is easy to double-count: the $40 million purse is separate from the FedExCup bonus pool. In 2026 the $100 million bonus money was distributed after the BMW Championship on the standings at that point, not here. So the $10 million Scheffler has just won is his Tour Championship winner’s share, and the bonus pool was settled a week earlier.

Min Woo Lee leads the Australasian charge

A strong week for the region. Min Woo Lee finished T4 on 11 under (269) after a closing 68, his best result in a season-ending event and a fitting end to the year that got all three Australasians to East Lake.

Adam Scott was T11 on 10 under (270), which at 46 years of age and in a 30-man field is a result in itself. Ryan Fox, the reigning Open champion and the last man into the field at 30th in the standings, finished 26th on 2 under (278). Read how Fox won The Open.

Lee shared fourth with a crowded group: Alex Fitzpatrick, Jacob Bridgeman, Russell Henley, Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Åberg and Chris Gotterup all finished on 11 under, with McIlroy closing in 69.

What it means

Scheffler ends the season as world number one and a two-time FedExCup champion, and the format change did nothing to slow him down. The removal of starting strokes was designed to give the other 29 a fair shot at East Lake; the man who led the standings into the week won anyway.
