Macarthur FC vs Brisbane Roar Preview & Prediction
Brisbane are struggling significantly at the moment and could be in for another tough night when they meet an in-form Macarthur side on Friday night.
The Roar have been okay defensively over their current eight-game winless run, but they have real problems in attack with Scott McDonald still sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Brisbane have scored just four goals in their last eight games and until they can improve in the final third, they won’t be making any sort of charge up the ladder and into the top six.
Three of their last four matches have resulted in a 1-1 draw, while they have lost to Macarthur, Perth and Western United during their winless run.
Meanwhile, Macarthur have been strong in recent weeks and come into this clash on the back of three straight victories.
Macarthur defeated Western United 2-1 before wins to nil over Wellington (1-0) and Perth (2-0). Matt Derbyshire has been in great form all season and has scored in two of his last three games.
Currently in third spot on the ladder and just four points behind leaders Central Coast with a game in hand, this is an excellent chance for Macarthur to narrow the gap.
As mentioned, Brisbane aren’t leaking many goals, but they are all over the place in attack. With Macarthur in good form and playing at home, they should be able to grind out a low-scoring victory.
