Perth Glory vs Macarthur FC Preview & Prediction
It’s a crucial clash for both sides as Perth and Macarthur continue their pursuit of a finals spot in the A-League at NIB Stadium on Sunday night.
After looking all but out of the finals race a month ago, Perth have returned to their sizzling best and come into this encounter on the back of a four-match winning streak.
All of those wins have come at home, with Glory scoring a total of 12 goals in victories over Melbourne Victory, Western United, Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United.
Perth’s lethal frontline of Andy Keogh, Bruno Fornaroli and Diego Castro are firing on all cylinders, helping propel their side to 31 points – which is equal to that of Brisbane in sixth.
Meanwhile, Macarthur are unbeaten in their last five and have won their last two matches – although both did come against the struggling Melbourne Victory.
It’s been a solid debut season in the A-League for Macarthur, with Matt Derbyshire leading the way with 13 goals from 19 matches.
However, they still have been inconsistent throughout the season and we need to see more reliability before tipping them against in-form teams.
At their best, Perth are genuine premiership contenders – especially playing at home. Glory have been on fire over the last month and can extend their winning streak to five matches and potentially break into the top six on Sunday night.
