Melbourne City vs Macarthur FC Preview & Prediction
It’s been a rocky start to the season for Melbourne City as they prepare to welcome Macarthur FC to AAMI Park on Sunday afternoon.
City lost their first two A-League games of the season to Western United and Adelaide before bouncing back to beat Sydney FC 2-0 at home last week.
Steven Ugarkovic and Jamie Maclaren scored either side of half-time to fire City to their first three points of the season.
However, City suffered another setback mid-week in the AFC Champions League, suffering a 1-0 loss to Thai side Buriram, who are coached by former Jets boss Arthur Papas.
Meanwhile, Macarthur are enjoying a solid start to the season, going unbeaten in their three games.
Macarthur began the campaign with a 1-1 home draw with Brisbane before toppling the Mariners and Western United.
However, the Mariners have been terrible to launch their premiership defence and Western also haven’t impressed after Round 1.
VERDICT:
Not sure I trust Macarthur are a threat yet and they could be exposed in their first interstate game of the season here.
Despite the Champions League loss mid-week, City should have regained some confidence after their win over Sydney and it would be a huge shock if they failed to win this (Best City win H2H odds $1.50 with bet365.)
