At opposite ends of the form spectrum, Sydney FC and Melbourne City lock horns at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

Sydney have climbed up to fifth spot on the ladder on the back of going unbeaten in eight of their last nine games and winning four straight at home.

The Sky Blues started the season slowly, but they’ve found some good form as of late and head into this contest following back-to-back victories over the Mariners and Adelaide.

While their form is promising, Sydney still need to work on their defence – they’ve only managed to keep one clean sheet all season.

Meanwhile, City are experiencing one of their worst seasons in recent memory and head into Round 18 in seventh on the ladder, outside of the finals places.

City have won just one of their last six games and have lost three straight on the road against the Mariners, Glory and Roar, which doesn’t bode well for this trip to Sydney.

City have conceded nine goals in their last two road outings, so they also need to tighten up defensively if they are going to cause the upset here.

VERDICT:

Tough game to call, despite the contrast in form. The A-League is an unpredictable competition and it wouldn’t surprise me if City suddenly turned it on here, but going on their last two road performances, I just can’t do it.
