Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne Victory Preview & Prediction

Flying high in second spot on the ladder having played two less games than ladder leaders Central Coast, Brisbane will be aiming to make it four straight wins when they play host to an inconsistent Victory outfit on Saturday.

Since losing their opening match 1-0 to Melbourne City, Brisbane have been in fine form, registering three consecutive wins against Victory (3-1), Newcastle (2-1) and Adelaide (3-1), with both teams scoring in all of those games.

The Roar have transformed into a different side under the guidance of Warren Moon and will be determined to keep their momentum going here. Young striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls has been on fire, scoring four goals in his last three matches, including a brace in his last outing against Adelaide.

Meanwhile, Victory continue to play some entertaining football, but their defence is a major issue and that’s why they are coming up short more often than not.

Victory have only kept one clean sheet in their last 10 matches, but that did come in their last match when they played out a 0-0 stalemate with Western United.

It’s been another slow start for Victory and life gets tougher on Saturday as they will be without striker Rudy Gestede and winger Callum McManaman through injury.

Brisbane are the team in form and have home ground advantage – I’m backing the Roar go claim their fourth straight win with both teams finding the back of the net.
