Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory Preview & Prediction
Brisbane have turned their season around over the last fortnight and will be determined to keep their winning momentum going when they face an out-of-form Perth side on Sunday afternoon.
The Roar were on an eight-match winless run and really struggling for goals before upsetting Macarthur by a 2-1 scoreline two weeks ago. Brisbane then backed that result up with another 2-1 victory away to the Wanderers.
Japanese import Riku Danzaki scored in both games and is settling into the A-League nicely midway through the season. With striker Dylan Wenzell-Halls also getting on the scoresheet against Macarthur, all of a sudden Brisbane have some attacking threats up front.
Those two wins have lifted Brisbane to eighth spot on the ladder and just two points adrift of the Wanderers, who they have three games in hand over. Depending on other results, Brisbane could propel themselves into the top six if they win on Sunday.
Perth meanwhile are quickly losing pace with the top six having won just one of their last 10 games – and that victory came at home against the embattled Newcastle Jets.
After a fantastic start to the season, Glory have stumbled and at the moment they don’t look like finals contenders. Perth are seven points behind sixth and have a lot of work to do if they are to make up that ground.
Defence is a major concern for Glory – they have conceded in all of their 16 games this season. That sort of record simply doesn’t lend to a team playing finals.
With Brisbane back in form and Perth’s terrible away record, the Roar should be coming away with all three points on Sunday.
