Perth Glory vs Melbourne Victory Preview & Prediction

With just a combined nine wins between in them in 38 matches this season, it goes without saying that Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory will be determined to grab all three points in this A-League showdown on Sunday night.

It’s been a poor season for both teams, with Perth sitting in 10th and Victory in 11th.

Glory started the season with a bang and appeared to be genuine premiership contenders, but they’ve fallen into a nightmare slump over the last few months, winning just one of their last 12 games – and that came against the last-placed Newcastle Jets.

Perth have lost four of their last six matches, including a 3-1 defeat to competition leaders Melbourne City mid-week. Currently 11 points adrift of sixth place, the finals looks a lost cause for Glory.

Meanwhile, Victory have been even worse this season with just four wins from their 20 matches – a record that saw coach Grant Brebnar given the sack.

Victory actually haven’t been too bad since Brebnar’s departure, beating the Wanderers 5-4, drawing with the high-flying Mariners 1-1 and losing narrowly 1-0 to reigning premiers Sydney FC.

However, Victory couldn’t capitalise on a 1-0 lead on Thursday night against Macarthur and ultimately went down 2-1.

Overall, I can’t back Perth as the $1.55 favourites here. They are winless in 11 of their last 12 and have lost four of their last five to Victory. Both teams have no trouble finding the back of the net, but there’s decent value with Victory to come out on top.
