Rachel King rode the $2.40 favourite to beat Blind Raise ($3.10) by 1¾ lengths, with Call Me Coach ($15) a further 3¼ lengths back in third. Eleven three-year-olds started, and Chris Waller’s four runners finished fourth to seventh.

Honour roll winners include Lonhro (2001), Redoute’s Choice (1999), Shamus Award (2013, then winning the Cox Plate that same spring), The Autumn Sun (2018), Super Seth, Anamoe, Golden Mile and Shangri La Express. Lead-In Races
The main lead-ins are the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) and the Group 3 Caulfield Classic. Sydney-based 3YOs coming through the Golden Rose form line are also regular contenders.
2026 lead-up form. The Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude was run at Caulfield on 19 September over 1400m and went to Blind Raise ($2.40, Blake Shinn, Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young) by 2.75 lengths, from Tornado Valley ($19.00) and American Eagle ($5.00). Blind Raise started favourite and won, which is the cleanest possible result for a Prelude: the colt the market already rated confirmed it at the track of the Guineas itself, over 200m shorter.
The Sydney line comes from the Group 1 Golden Rose at Rosehill on 26 September, where Warwoven ($6.00, Rachel King, Bjorn Baker) won by 3.16 lengths from St Gotthard, with Tron Bolt fifth. Diameter won the Group 2 Stutt Stakes over the Caulfield mile. Blind Raise and Warwoven both go to 1600m for the first time, which is the question at the centre of this year’s race.
Caulfield Guineas Tips, Best Bets & Predictions
Final field and tips. Eleven three-year-olds were drawn on Tuesday, all at 57kg set weights, on a track rated a Soft 7 after 73.6mm of rain since the last meeting, upgraded to a Soft 6 on Wednesday. Warwoven (barrier 6) is the horse to beat on class after the Golden Rose, and he heads the market. Blind Raise (barrier 2) is unbeaten this preparation, has already won at Caulfield and keeps Blake Shinn. Our pick: Blind Raise. He has the better gate, the proven Caulfield run and a rider who knows him, while Warwoven has the stronger form line but is also up in trip for the first time. Tron Bolt, the JJ Atkins winner, is drawn widest at 11 and has to overcome that. In a field of 11 the draw matters less than in the usual 18, but barriers one to four have still been an edge here.
Three things sit behind those tips and are worth tracking up to the jump.
- The Golden Rose form line. Sydney’s premier three-year-old Group 1, over 1400m at Rosehill, is the strongest single guide to the Guineas. Horses that run well there without winning often start at better value at Caulfield than the horse that beat them.
