Here are the latest happenings in the NRL Telstra Premiership at the end of round 16.

Raiders Just Beat Tigers

Wests Tigers 12-16 St. Canberra Raiders

This game was a classic tale of two halves. The Raiders were in complete control in the first half as Joseph Tapine, Jed Stuart, and Tom Starling all crossed the line within the first 25 minutes. After some stern words at half-time from Benji Marshall, the Tigers came out fired up and scored two quick tries. However, both teams then went to sleep, and there were no points for the last 26 minutes of the game!

Panthers Upset Warriors

New Zealand Warriors 18-28 Penrith Panthers

The Warriors were big favourites coming into this one, as they’ve looked unbeatable at home. The Panthers rose to the occasion and dominated possession, and managed to pierce the Warriors’ line over and over again. The first half was a very close affair, but in the middle of the second half, two key tries from Blaize Talagi and Paul Alamoti sealed the game for Penrith.

Storm Dig Deep to Beat Bunnies

South Sydney Rabbitohs 24-25 Melbourne Storm

We backed the Bunnies to upset the Storm, and they came oh-so-close. Alex Johnstone single-handedly kept the Rabbitohs in the game with 4 amazing tries. With 4 minutes to go, Tyrone Munro scored in the corner to level the game. Latrell Mitchell missed the conversion, forcing the game to extra time.

In Golden Point, the Storm marched down the field and set up Ryan Papenhuyzen, who slotted an easy field goal. Melbourne will feel like they escaped Sydney with the win!

Broncos Overpower Sharks

Brisbane Broncos 34-28 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks

The Broncos are back in the winning books after a very strong performance against an in-form Sharks at Suncorp. Both sides struggled to defend, with the Broncos conceding 5 tries and the Sharks 6. However, the completion rate proved the difference, as Brisbane completed 85% of their sets, while Cronulla completed just 75%.

Things were looking pretty bad for the Broncos at halftime as they were staring at a 10-point deficit. Fortunately for Brisbane, Gehamat Shibasaki and Josiah Karapani got the Broncos out of trouble, each scoring doubles in the second half!

Roosters Smash Cowboys at Allianz Stadium

Sydney Roosters 42-8 North Queensland Cowboys

The Cowboys will want to forget this game ASAP! The Roosters, who are building momentum, came out in a vicious mood, with Lindsay Collins scoring just 4 minutes into the game. The floodgates really opened at the beginning of the second half as the Roosters scored 4 tries within 16 minutes and extinguished any hopes of a Cowboys comeback.

If the Chooks keep playing like that, they’ll be gunning for a top 4 spot in no time. They definitely have the attacking prowess to hang with any club in the comp!

Eels Cruise Past Titans in Sydney

Parramatta Eels 36-20 Gold Coast Titans

The Titans’ woes continue as they remain at the bottom of the ladder after another poor performance. The Gold Coast were in this one throughout the first half and were only down 2 points when both sides hit the sheds. Unfortunately, for Titans’ fans, the second half was all Parramatta, as they scored 3 tries to 1, and Zac Lomax was perfect with the boot throughout the game, kicking six conversions.
