Broncos Hand Bulldogs Their First Loss
Brisbane Broncos 42-18 Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
The Bulldogs got a rude awakening in their first match of the season in Queensland. The Broncos came out with something to prove and put on an absolute clinic in the first half. Amazingly, the game was virtually over in the 31st minute when Jesse Arthars scored Brisbane’s 6th try. The Doggies went into the sheds down 34-0 and looked absolutely shell-shocked.
Despite scoring 3 tries in the second half, the Bulldogs copped an absolute hiding. Expect Cameron Ciraldo to give the boys a tongue-lashing at training this week!
Roosters Overpower Dragons
Sydney Roosters 46-18 St. George Illawarra Dragons
When the Roosters are on, they have a dynamic attack that can rack up points quickly, and that’s exactly what happened on Friday as they put 7 tries on the Dragons. James Tedesco was on fire, scoring 2 tries, and despite Sandon Smith being sent off, the Chooks cruised to victory.
Warriors Too Good For Knights in NZ
New Zealand Warriors 26-12 Newcastle Knights
The Warriors have been the dark horse this year, and, after dismantling the Knights, are sitting pretty in 3rd on the ladder. They look virtually unbeatable at home. The Knights looked exhausted out there as the Warriors completed 81% of their sets of sixes compared to Newcastle’s 72% and forced the Knights to make 46 extra tackles.
Storm Win a Close One Against Rabbitohs
Melbourne Storm 24-16 South Sydney Rabbitohs
We didn’t expect such a close game down in Melbourne, but just a converted try and a penalty separated the two teams. It was a back-and-forth battle with each side trading tries in the first half. However, the Storm pulled away in the second with tries from Eliesa Katoa and Tyran Wishart.
Cowboys Demolish Titans
North Queensland Cowboys 12-40 Gold Coast Titans
In a grudge match between two Queensland sides, we were expecting a closer match, but the Cowboys had other ideas. The Titans got off to a dream start, scoring 3 tries within the first 20 minutes, but then went to sleep at the wheel as the Cowboys scored a shocking 8 unanswered tries!
Sea Eagles Carve Panthers Up
Penrith Panthers 10-26 Manly Sea Eagles
The Panthers’ woes continue after losing their 6th game of the season. Penrith were poor in the first half, conceding 14 points. However, the Panthers scored 2 quick tries at the start of the second half to bring them within striking distance. However, after Paul Alamoti was sent off in the 61st minute, the comeback was ruined.
Raiders Thump Dolphins
Canberra Raiders 40-28 The Dolphins
The Raiders remain unbeaten at home after mounting an impressive comeback against the Dolphins. Canberra were down 10-28 at half-time but absolutely dominated the second half, scoring 5 tries in a row!
Tigers Edge Sharks
Wests Tigers 20-18 Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
This was an absolute thriller between the Tigers and Sharks. The Tigers looked to be in control after 2 early tries, but Cronulla came roaring back with 3 tries. The game was all squared up with 2 minutes to go until Adam Doueihi slotted a penalty goal to win the match for Benji Marshall’s side.
