Here are the latest happenings in the NRL Telstra Premiership at the end of Round 9.

Sharks Sneak Past Eels

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 28-18 Parramatta Eels

On neutral ground at Suncorp, thanks to Magic Round, the Sharkies dominated possession and completed 85% of their sets of sixes. They looked unstoppable at the start of the second half as Samuel Stonestreet and Cameron McInnes crossed the line.

However, the Eels clawed back with tries from Josh Addo-Carr and Dylan Brown. Fortunately for the Sharks, Stonestreet scored again, this time in the 71st minute, which sealed the game for the Sharks.

Roosters Too Strong For Dolphins

Sydney Roosters 36-26 The Dolphins

James Tedesco and Mark Nawaqanitawase were on fire for the Chooks, with Teddy carving the Dolphins up the middle and Nawaqanitawase showing off his acrobatic moves with a sensational diving try in the corner. The Roosters then went to sleep at the wheel as the Dolphins scored 3 tries in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

Knights Decimate Rabbitohs

South Sydney Rabbitohs 4-30 Newcastle Knights

We didn’t expect this scoreline! The Bunnies were shocking in the defence, missing almost 50 tackles, and the Knights made them pay for it. Newcastle ran in 5 tries, which is incredible for a team that has some of the worst attack in the comp. Fletcher Sharpe had a blinder, bagging a hat-trick.

Warriors Hang on Against Cowboys

New Zealand Warriors 30-26 North Queensland Cowboys

In the game of the round, the Warriors proved that they can win outside of New Zealand. The Warriors looked to be in control as they went into the sheds up 28-12. However, the Cowboys came roaring home with tries from Robert Derby, Murray Taulagi, and Jeremiah Nanai. Two missed conversions from Scott Drinkwater proved the difference in the end.

Tigers Too Good for Dragons

Wests Tigers 34-28 St. George Illawarra Dragons

Jarome Luai had the Tigers playing like a Top 8 side. The captain was leading the attack like a general. Lachlan Galvin showed some incredible passing skills, which led to a try, and Adam Doueihi’s 4 conversions and penalty goal in the middle of the second half played a key role in the Tigers’ victory.

Bulldogs Steamroll Titans

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 38-18 Gold Coast Titans

After losing last week to the Broncos, the Doggies were keen to get stuck into another Queensland side. This time, playing outside of Sydney didn’t bother Canterbury as they put 6 tries on the Titans. Jacob Kiraz bagged 3 tries, and Stephen Crichton was perfect with the boot, slotting 6 conversions and a penalty. With that win, the Bulldogs remain at the top of the table.

Panthers Shock Broncos

Penrith Panthers 32-8 Brisbane Broncos

There’s another unpredicted scoreline! Despite playing at home, the Broncos were dreadful. Brisbane scored the game’s first points when Ben Hunt crossed the line in the 8th minute, but after that, it was all Penrith, as the Panthers had a field day, running in 5 tries. Nathan Cleary had a great day at the office, kicking 5 conversions and a penalty.

Raiders Edge Storm in a Thriller

Canberra Raiders 20-18 Melbourne Storm

The Storm looked to have won the game after Ryan Papenhuyzen slotted a field goal. However, it was disallowed after the Storm were penalised for using the elbow in a tackle. Kaeo Weekes then ran 40m to score and level the game. Then, in golden point, a high tackle gifted the Raiders the win as Jamal Fogarty kicked the penalty.
