Western Bulldogs vs Richmond Preview

It is make or break for Richmond and the Western Bulldogs on Friday night at Marvel Stadium. The two sides are right amongst the logjam for top eight spots with the Western Bulldogs holding 8th position, while Richmond are 11th.

The Bulldogs have 10 wins from their 19 matches in 2023, while Richmond have won nine and drawn one. Last weekend, the two sides went down in their respective games.

The Western Bulldogs held a 35 point lead over the GWS Giants in the third quarter of their match before being overrun at the business end, going down by five points.

Richmond were right in contention against 4th placed Melbourne before conceding the last five goals of the game to lose by 32.

Both sides will look to exert some dominance in the midfield. Bailey Dale, Tom Liberatore, Adam Treloar and Jack Macrae all come off 30+ disposal games for the Bulldogs, who just need to convert their inside 50s into scores. They will need to do it without Alex Keath and Josh Bruce, who both went down with injury last weekend.

Dustin Martin, Shai Bolton and Tim Taranto shape as key players for the Tigers, who have won six of their nine matches under new coach, Andrew McQualter. In the same time period, the Dogs have won just three and another defeat here will place more question marks over their coach, Luke Beveridge.

Tigers vs Dogs Stats

  • The Western Bulldogs have won 10 of 19 this season, Richmond are nine wins and a draw.
  • The Bulldogs are 8th on the ladder, Richmond are 11th.
  • Richmond have won six of nine under Andrew McQualter, the Bulldogs have won three of nine in the same time period.
  • The Tigers have won two of the past three between the two sides.
  • The Bulldogs have won the past four between the two sides at Marvel Stadium
